Air India Group Deploys Flight Optimiziation Suite On AI And AI Express Fleet

Air India Group on 12th September 2025 announced that it has deployed the SITA OptiFlight suite of decision intelligence modules to help its planes save on fuel and cut carbon emissions.

Air India Group said it is deploying SITA OptiFlight’s advanced climb optimization module and SITA eWAS to optimize its Air India and Air India Express flights.

A press release by the Tata-owned group said the deployment of the advanced data driven digital solutions is part of Air India group’s broader modernization strategy and marks a major step in improving both sustainability and operational performance..

With the technologies being active across Air India’s Airbus A320 fleet and Air India Express Boeing 737 fleet that covers both domestic and international routes, the company expects to achieve fuel savings of approximately 11,100 tons, as well as cutting carbon emissions by 85,000 tons. The same will be rolled out for the company’s wide body fleet subsequently.

Speaking about the deployment, Basil Kwauk, Chief Operations Officer, Air India, said, “Sustainability and efficiency are core to our transformation into a world-class airline.
